A book published by Quodlibet that deals with the use of the important heritage of public residential building created in the second half of the Twentieth Century.

This legacy of public housing coincides, for the most part, with the modern periphery of the cities, and is often perceived by public opinion as problematic, ugly, wrong, a place of aesthetic, social, physical and environmental degradation. Yet, starting from after the second world war, the periphery has become a significant part of urban realities, a reality where it becomes increasingly more difficult to distinguish the style of public intervention from its private imitation.

According to the authors, this heritage can become a resource in which to trigger transformation processes – which Renzo Piano would define as “mending” –, probably the only sustainable from an economic, social, and environmental point of view.
