A passionate dive into our contemporary literature, which brings together a wide variety of themes and styles.

Driven by her love for the Italian language, inextricably linked to her identity as a writer and scholar, Jhumpa Lahiri – the American author born in London from Bengali parents and winner of the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 2000 – has given life to a personal anthology of strong authorial value, which brings together a great variety of themes and styles. Her dynamic and lively approach comes from an attitude of discovery and rediscovery, attention to female voices, to authors who have been neglected and to those who have interpreted the short form with virtuosity.
Indisputable names still present on our scene are matched with other important ones that seem almost to have come from a literary lecture, up to real revivals. Poets, journalists, artists, musicians, teachers, scientists, translators: the writers who live on these pages represent the many facets of the Italian society and, with their original voices, talk about landscapes, emotions, and various events. The results is a rare and fascinating book addressed to a wide range of readers. Jhumpa Lahiri asks “What is literature meant for if not to welcome anyone who has the curiosity and desire to face it?”
