MAXXI B.A.S.E., Graziella Lonardi Buontempo Hall – admittance free
For years we’ve been saying that biking is beautiful. Now it’s time to change the old slogan for one that’s more effective: we’re beautiful on bikes.
MAXXI is hosting an exhibition of stickers from the first album of Urban Cyclists, an anthology testifying to a form of mobility that is so much less banal and exasperating than the car.
The beauty of biking,
the beauty of bikers
There cannot be many Italians who do not remember the song that goes ‘sotto questo sole, bello pedalare‘?In the 1990s, that hit for Francesco Baccini accompanied the pedalling of an entire generation of cyclists and is still fresh today. Thanks to their smart mobility, cocking a snoot at traffic jams and impossible parking, cyclists become dynamic sculptures, smoothly flowing, reclaiming piazzas as places for meeting people and capable of restoring to the city that beauty mutilated by the automotive use of the urban space.
On the occasion of VeloLove, the national celebration of urban cycling in Rome on 14 June, the MAXXI piazza will be traversed by bikers whose faces and experiences will be transformed into stickers and albums.
During the event, there will be a screening of We Are Traffic, an international photographic project on urban cycling.
