The Fischli/Weiss duo is among the most famous and influential names in the contemporary art scene in Switzerland.
In their works, artists have always represented the world as a space for playful experimentation. The artist must act as a detonator, through which the public can more easily understand history, technology, and philosophy and reapply them on the spot.
During his residency at the Swiss Institute of Rome, where he is working on the Roma Calling project, Peter Fischli will recount, in conversation with the Head Curator, Samuel Gross, how his research has evolved in the past, his current projects, and future works

Peter Fischli was born in 1952 in Zurich, where he currently lives and works. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino and Bologna, he took part in several group exhibitions, before starting his partnership with David Weiss (1946-2012), in 1979. The duo soon acquired a leading role in the world art scene, and their work was exhibited in numerous exhibitions in some of the most important international locations. In 2003, the two artists won the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale with the Questions work, and in 2016 the Guggenheim in New York dedicated an essential solo show to them. Their works, created with a wide variety of media including video, sculpture, installation, and photography, always offers the public the opportunity to perceive the world as a space open to humor and change.
