The landscape is a space of innovation and sharing, useful for creating “emotionally performative” natures.
Performative nature is the theme dealt with at the Xth Barcelona International Landscape Biennale that invites us to reflect on the role that nature can play with its performances in helping us overcome some global critical issues such as climate change and the consumption of soil and resources of the planet, with the consequent social problems and of democratic cohabitation between people.
Therefore, can we use nature and landscape projects to improve the current state of crisis of many urbanised territories, contrasting the critical points and current trends? According to the Xth Barcelona International Landscape Biennale, we need, more than ever, projects that propose a greater presence of nature with multi-performative capabilities, entrusting an ecological role to landscape design and public space, with innovative technical solutions that reduce or eliminate some critical issues and a social and political mission, of sharing and participation, focusing on “beautiful” spaces to create “emotionally performative” natures.
Therefore, the initiative to present the results of the Xth Barcelona Landscape Biennale is an opportunity to start a partnership with the Biennale of Public Spaces in Rome, of which the final event of the 5th edition takes place in the Slaughterhouse of Rome from May 30th to June 1st 2019.
