Nervi and the others

MAXXI Architettura Archives Centre – admittance free subject to availability of places

A seminar devoted to the interpretation of four of the most important structural idioms of the Italian school of engineering.

We start out with Pier Luigi Nervi, in the years of the economic miracle and the boom in Italian engineering, capturing the uniqueness of his “naturally strong forms”, so different to the contemporary ”artificially balanced figures” of Riccardo Morandi.

The story continues with the “essential design structures” of Silvano Zorzi that masterfully prolong the life of the Italian school in the Seventies and reach the “nameless visionary forms” of Sergio Musmeci that complete the overview of the identities of the structural engineering “Made in Italy”.
