Italian art and the museums: reality and prospects

Monday 27 January 2014, 18.00
MAXXI B.A.S.E., Graziella Lonardi Buontempo Hall – admittance free

MAXXI will be hosting the second seminar in the cycle Intorno all’Arte Contemporanea Italiana, promoted by the museum and La Quadriennale di Rome and curated by Ludovico Pratesi to reflect on the current situation of the visual arts in Italy and highlighting the possibilities for future development.

This seminar will focus on the relationship between artists and museums in Italy. Devoted to the analysis of the presence of Italian art in the programmes of museums and foundations in Italy, the event has been conceived as a workshop in progress in which the experiences of curators, museum directors, gallerists, artists, scholars and experts are compared to delineate a series of proposals designed to promote Italian art in a global context.
