From John Cage to the minimalism of Philip Glass and John Adams through to the post-minimalism of William Duckworth and Aivin Curran: an evening at MAXXI devoted to some of the most representative American composers, artificers from the 1970s of a new musical renaissance.

The piano concert will be performed by Oscar Pizzo, a musician of international repute specialising in the interpretation of serious music from the 20th Century, whose career is characterised by constant collaboration with great artists: from his fellow musicians Irvine Arditti, Rocco Filippini, David Moss and Faheem Mazhar, to the composers Salvatore Sciarrino, Arvo Pärt, Philip Glass, Gyia Kancheli, Gavin Bryars, Terry Riley and Frederic Rzewsky; from contemporary performers such as Frankie Hi NRG, Matmos, Pan Sonic and Scanner-Robin Rimbaud, to visual artists such as Michelangelo Pistoletto, Toti Scialoja and Jannis Kounellis.
