MAXXI too will be celebrating the anniversary of the founding of the Eternal City by participating in the event Rome yesterday, Rome today. A Marathon of Art and Literature in the Capital’s Museums on the occasion of the 2,765th anniversary of the Birth of Rome.
In various museums in the capital, from the National Roman Museum in Palazzo Massimo the National Gallery of Modern Art, well-known actors will be reading celebrated passages from a number of literary masterpieces which feature Rome Caput Mundi, the inspiration for painters, sculptors, poets, writers and directors. An ideal dialogue between the arts, figurative expression and literature. A head-to-head between the Rome of the most remote past and the contemporary city.

Introduction to the museum’s spaces a multi-disciplinary location devoted to experimentation and innovation in the field of the arts and architecture and an ideal setting for inter-cultural events.

MAXXI Auditorium – admittance free while places available
introduced by Paola Paesano, four leading figures from Italian theatre, Massimo Popolizio, Silvia Tognoloni, Tosca and Massimo Venturiello, will be reading passages by a number of contemporary authors in the museum spaces, traversing Rome from the outskirts to the centre through images and fragments of stories from its most recent literary appearances. Musical accompaniment by the guitarist Massimo De Lorenzi.
Project curated by CoopCulture in collaboration with Centro Studi Giuseppe Gioachino Belli and Paola Paesano, responsible for the Biblioteca Angelica’s review “Libri, lettori, autori”.
