from the Occupied Teatro Valle to MAXXI
Performance installation conceived by Riccardo Caporossi
Il Cammino degli Invisibili – The Walk of the Invisibles is an installation/performance involving a “walk” from the Occupied Teatro Valle to MAXXI by way of Piazza del Popolo, from where participants will take tram No. 2.
Artists, members of the public and tourists will alternate along the route, relay-fashion, carrying a multitude of shoes: either held on a tray or made to “walk” on the ground via a guide. The shoes are what evoke the invisibles: ordinary people powerless in the face of an oppressive system, the marginalised, anonymous victims of war.
The title is emblematic and evokes disappearance, subtraction, absence. His place is there but he, the body, has gone away. Only a trace remains: his shoes; a multitude of shoes. Shoes as actors in a mute scene, suspended between the nullity of the body and its emblematic evocation; stories, thoughts, conflicts and the need for relocation in a space-universe to which they may belong.
Volunteers with or without theatrical experience are invited to participate. Concentration and team spirit are requested along with at least one pair of shoes (as well as those being worn).
Participation is open to all while the deadline for signing up is 15 October.
You may take part in both phases or choose just one section of the walk/relay: from 15.00 to 17.00 (Teatro Valle – Piazza del Popolo) and from 17.00 to 19.00 (Piazza del Popolo – MAXXI).
You may sign up by send a mail to extravalle99@gmail.com specifying: name, age and the time slot in which you would like to participate.
