Doris Salcedo in conversation with Carlos Basualdo

Thursday 15 March, 17.30
MAXXI Auditorium – admittance free

On the occasion of the exhibition Plegaria Muda, the Colombian artist Doris Salcedo will be meeting the MAXXI public to discuss with Carlos Basualdo the birth and evolution of her work based on painstaking conceptual preparation and an attentive process of research and reflection.

Plegaria Muda, an installation of great emotive impact composed of over 120 tables set one upon the other and from which grow thin blades of grass, is a universal and timeless story of people who have no voice to speak of their existence and who therefore may appear not to exist at all.
The interpreter and narrator of collective distress, for years Doris Salcedo has been working on the theme of the impossibility of change, searching through careful exploration for the traces of social and political violence in people living on the margins of society.
