A photo-story of the long career of Lina Wertmüller, an icon of Italian film around the world.
Dietro gli occhiali bianchi (directed and scripted by Valerio Ruiz, 112’) is the film that investigates the director’s great films from her theatrical training and her origins as an assistant director to Federico Fellini on 8 1/2 (1963).
Lina Wertmüller’s career is narrated not only through the personal recollections of the protagonist of the documentary, but also by the voices of numerous artists who have experienced her artistic world at first hand. They include Giancarlo Giannini, Marina Cicogna, Sophia Loren and numerous foreign figures such as Martin Scorsese, Harvey Keitel, Nastassja Kinski and the critic John Simon.
