Dancing Paradiso: a song of fears, wounds, and obsessions of our present.

With his last book, Dancing Paradiso, Stefano Benni returns to tell in verse – in which he maintains the rich and inventive style of prose, adding lyrics and musicality – a story that is a song of fears, wounds, and obsessions of our present, to talk about the daily challenge of sacrifice, care, and hope.

Dancing Paradiso is a nightclub in a cruel metropolis. It is in that club that a guardian angel tries to bring the five main characters together: Stan, the Sad Pianist who is preparing a last concert for Bill, his drummer friend who is dying in the hospital; Amina, a young refugee who lost her mother by passing the border; Elvis, an obese and brilliant hacker locked up in his home for years, who might be a compulsive liar or a murderer; the poetess, Lady, who is refined but drunk, obsessed with suicide.
