The Graziella Lonardi Buontempo Room – open to 12 participants
A two-day workshop on the photographic portrait to study the theory and techniques and to learn how to crate a sociological narration through the environmental portraits of those who experience the museum every day.
WHO IS THE WORKSHOP ADDRESSED TO?
The workshop is open to everyone, but is directed preferably to adults with a basic knowledge of the photographic instrument. In fact, participants must bring their own camera.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST AND HOW CAN I SIGN UP?
The workshop costs € 120, including tickets to enter the museum for both days.

What portraying a subject means; The light in the portrait; Composition of the image and interaction of the subject with the landscape; The importance of the choice of black and white during shooting, not in the post-production phase; Techniques to reinforce the character of the photographed subject; How to deal with the subjects to portray (know how to capture the most spontaneous nuances, making them instrumental to the pre-set result); Guided analysis of different approaches to the environmental portrait; The portrait inside a story and how to tell a story through the portrait.
1:00-2:30 p.m.
Lunch break
2:30-4:30 p.m.
A practical session on the portrait conceived in a conceptual way, creating a real photographic project in the MAXXI spaces with a musical group that will be the guest of the day.
4:30-6:00 p.m.
From concept to narration: the environmental portrait in news stories; How to compose a story through portraits. Selecting light, subjects, and contextualizing them in the story.
Sunday March 24th 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

A practical session of shooting “an unknown MAXXI”: tell the MAXXI story through the portraits of those who work there.
