A film by Roman Polanski, Italy/France/Germany 1972, 112’
Cast: Marcello Mastroianni, Sidney Rome, Romolo Valli, Hugh Griffith
Nancy, sheltering in a villa near Amalfi, becomes of the object of desire of its absurd and assorted inhabitants. Perhaps Polanski’s most dream-like and light-hearted film in which the spectator, like the protagonist, is surrounded by a enchanting location “in which everyone appears to play a game to which no one knows the rules:” As scintillating as Mozart (played in the film), as surreal as Magritte: Mastroianni is always at his ease with the chaos of dreams.
This tribute to Marcello Mastroianni has been organized in collaboration with Piccolo Cinema America and Roma Creative Contest.
