Ontani, Luigi

A versatile Italian artist known throughout the world for his “tableaux vivants”, filmed and photographed performances in which Ontani is self-portrayed as figures from mythology, history and Italian literature. His work is distinguished by an untiring enthusiasm for experimentation that from the 1960s through to the present day has encouraged his heterogeneous use of artistic techniques such as sculpture, photography, performance and watercolours. Luigi Ontani has exhibited in the most important international museum including PS1 in New York, MAMBO in Bologna, the Venice Biennale and the Rome Quadriennale.
