A spacey “weekend in the desert” dazzled by the overhead light, between metaphor and story, tradition and technology
The latest film by the artist Yuri Ancarani, a winner in the Cineasti del presenti section of the 69th Locarno Film Festival, is coming to MAXXI within the ambit of the artapes season.
The Challenge is the fruit of three years’ observation in the field in order to capture the spirit of the falconry tradition that allows those who practice the activity to continue to maintain a close relationship with the desert within a context otherwise dominated by urban life.
Our guide to the crossing of this threshold is a wealthy young falconer taking his birds to an important tournament in Qatar.
