To what extant can architecture be understood from a photograph? How much do we know about and how much are we unaware of regarding a project based on a photographic image?

During this series we shall be meeting some of the most interesting contemporary Italian practitioners – an architect and a photographer – who have proved capable of creating a building, a significant place for the territory and the community, and to interpret it photographically, amplifying perception of it and its underlying meanings.

Five seminars exploring the symbiotic relationship between architecture, its designer and the photographer who portrays it

Speakers
The Park Associati studio and the photographer Andrea Martiradonna
Moderator
Silvia Botti director ABITARE

Listening, experimentation, complexity and narration characterise the architecture and the design culture at Park Associati. The work of the studio, founded in Milan in 2000 by Filippo Pagliani and Michele Rossi, is based on a mutating and strongly characterised stylistic perspective, mirroring the open, transverse and scientific approach of the two partners and their staff. The continual research into new ways of bringing together materials and forms with diverse technologies and function allows Park Associati to offer original solutions to the changing demands of clients and to dialogue with the most diverse private contexts across a broad spectrum of work ranging from design to town planning.

Andrea Martiradonna graduated in Architecture from Milan Polytechnic with a thesis on the treatment and digital archiving of photographic images. Between 1986 and 1990 he was an assistant cameraman for various production companies and RAI. Since then he has worked as an architecture and design photographer, contributing to various specialist publications.
