In collaboration with MIBACT and thanks to financing from the Fondi POAT (Progetti Operativi di Assistenza Tecnica), MAXXI is presenting the second edition of the project City as Culture, with the aim of promoting and further exploring the world of creativity and cultural development of our cities, with particular attention paid to the capacity of the institutions to be both centres of cultural activation and attentive observers of the urban transformations.
In order to map the national scene and launch a comparison with developments abroad, this year’s edition has been divided into two parts: a workshop, between April and May 2018, to be held in L’Aquila and Rome, the participants in which will be selected via this Open Call and a Call for Papers, open from March to June 2018 and designed to bring together an illustrative sample of the cultural projects and processes in Italy.
On the basis of past experience, as well as cultural interventions and projects that have given rise to process of cultural marketing, regeneration and development, the workshop aims to bring together and create a system for actuating cultural processes.
The programmes consists of two seminars, one at L’Aquila on 19 and 20 April, and one at MAXXI in Rome on 3, 4 and 5 May.
WHO IS IT FOR
We shall be selecting 100 people, including creatives and professionals from the world of culture intent on improving their skills regarding the activation of ideas, companies representing examples of excellence at local levels that support cultural processes and representative from public authorities who shape cultural strategies that transform cities.
– Young creative and professionals (architects, artists, curators, graphic and industrial designers, advertising executives, directors, writers);
– Experts in communications and cultural journalists;
– Graduates and undergraduates in Architecture, Literature, Philosophy, DAMS and Communications Science;
– Public Administrations – technicians and managers in the technical and cultural sectors;
– Leading Italian companies interested in activating projects associated with the world of culture.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
Candidates are asked to complete the form below by 12:00 AM on 23 March 2018, attaching their curriculum vitae and motivational letter.
