Botto, Andrea

Andrea Botto was born in Rapallo (GE), where he lives and works, in 1973.
Graduate of photography at the IED of Turin, he is interested in landscape photography and architecture. Attentive to the contaminations of contemporary art’s different languages, he analyses the processes of perception and representation of the world, through the relationship between the territory and its inhabitants. He has participated in numerous Photography Festivals and obtained many acknowledgements: third prize at the International Photography Contest of Basilicata 2004 and third at the European Photography Contest of Stuttgart. Along with geologist Marco Amanti he looks after the project Unstable Landscapes regarding Italian landslides. He was the artistic director and initiator of the Rapallo Festival of Contemporary Photography 2006. Since 2004 he teaches at the Turin IED. His works are conserved at the Modena Civic Gallery and the Bibliothèque Nationale of Paris.
