Baldi, Pio

Pio Baldi, architect and the author of essays, books and specialist publications regarding cultural heritage and contemporary art and architecture, has served as chairman of the foundation managing MAXXI – the National Museum of XXI Century Arts – until 2012 with which he has been involved through its birth and development and the inauguration of the museum in May 2010. For over 30 years he has worked for the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, curating studies and restoration projects for monuments in Italy and abroad. He has been the general director for architecture and contemporary art (DARC) and general director for environmental and landscape heritage. He has also been superintendent of the Lazio region, the superintendent of Siena, the acting director of the Central Institute of Restoration and a member of the National Board for Cultural Heritage. He is an Academician of S. Luca.
